Election Day '22 (11/8/2022)

Dear Friends,

How was that for an election cycle? From months of court decisions that established two primaries in New York to a competitive general election with so much on the line. Yes, it sounds cliché but the importance of elections can never be underestimated and last night is proof positive. At Hamilton Campaign Network, we are remarkably proud of our successes across the state and of a first in New York City with historic ballot victories. Beyond New York, we continue to expand our wins as we export our strategic and smart campaign leadership across the country.

In New York, we congratulate our fantastic Attorney General, Letitia James who defeated a reactionary, anti-choice Republican. We are proud to have been her lead consultant again, as we have been since her 2013 Public Advocate win. Congratulations as well to State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli who we helped secure an impressive re-election.

Marching on, we were lead consultant on three additional successful campaigns. Our friend Congressman Adriano Espaillat was re-elected to a newly redrawn 13th Congressional District. Assemblywoman Nathalia Fernández won a well-deserved promotion to the New York State Senate and will be the first Latina to represent this seat and only the fifth in New York State Senate history. Replacing Fernandez in the assembly will be Assemblymember-elect John Zacarro who won last night. HCN helped John kick off his tenure by focusing the campaign on introducing him to his soon to be constituents.

We also pounded the pavement for the Democratic Assembly Campaign Committee, running field operations that delivered hard fought victories for 8 Assembly incumbents in Upstate New York.

We made history as lead consultant to the Racial Justice Commission by garnering overwhelming support for three ballot initiatives that will result in amendments to the New York City Charter centering on racial equity and justice for New York City government. Enshrining these values in our Charter will leave an immeasurable imprint and we couldn’t be prouder to have contributed to this effort.

Nationally, we continued our string of successes in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. We worked with the Bucks County Dems on eight State House Districts and two State Senate districts, including at least two seats that flipped from red to blue. We were also involved in independent expenditures in some challenging Florida and Texas races. In Texas, we produced radio ads for Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo and Attorney General candidate Rochelle Garza. As of this morning Judge Hidalgo's race is too close to call and, unfortunately, Garza was not successful in defeating Attorney General Paxton. Our Florida digital programs greatly outperformed benchmarks. We will continue to lead the banner for qualified and diverse candidates attempting to break barriers and represent their communities with pride and integrity across the country.

Finally, as we celebrate those who were on the ballot Tuesday and our Hamilton team’s hard work and dedication, we look forward to the work ahead to continue electing leaders who respect our democratic values. Stay tuned and stay engaged!

Siempre,

The Hamilton Campaign Network

Tony Reyes
