NY Primary Election (06/28/2022)

Dear Friend,

Between ever-changing district lines and two court mandated primaries, Tuesday’s primary election was the result of months of court decisions. All these changes left many voters confused and depressed voter turnout to near-historic lows. Voter turnout was down 50% in NYC compared to the last Gubernatorial primary in 2018 and down 45% statewide.

However, elections matter greatly and we must participate in order to elect the leaders our City and State need. We wish to congratulate all of our clients who have been champions for their communities and have worked hard over these past months and years to earn every vote. Their contributions to our state have made a lasting difference.

This year, we were lead consultants to three successful incumbent re-election campaigns across New York City. Our friend and former colleague, Assembly Member Manny De Los Santos earned his first full term to represent Assembly District 72 in Washington Heights, Inwood, and Marble Hill. In the Bronx, Assembly Member Michael Benedetto, fought off a formidable cadre of primary challengers to return to Albany as an educator with classroom experience. On the Upper East Side, Assembly Member Rebecca Seawright earned a landslide victory in her district with nearly 85% of the vote and will continue to fight for passage of the Equal Rights Amendment in the wake of the Dobbs v Jackson Supreme Court decision.

Congratulations also to Assembly Member Charles Fall of Staten Island for his re-election with nearly 70% of the vote, who we worked with to execute voter outreach programs including mail and text messaging. We also worked with Assembly Member Nikki Lucas to execute a targeted Get Out the Vote (GOTV) operation on her road to earning her first full term as the representative for the 60th Assembly District in Brooklyn.

There are still votes to be counted, but we are proud of Assembly Member Kevin Cahill, who had a very close race, and Alberto Torres for their hard work leading up to the June 28th Primary Election.

This is just the beginning of this election season with a fast-approaching August 23rd primary for State Senate and Congress. There is much work to be done, but we celebrate those on the ballot Tuesday and our Hamilton team’s hard work and dedication.

Siempre,

Hamilton Campaign Network
